The yellow color which weld (Reseda luteola) provides, owns an outstanding beauty and light fastness within the ones obtained from plants. Therefore this plant is used since centuries in yarn dyeing and in the preparation of pigments for artists. Since it is an alumina lake, its covering power is not high, but it owns a great transparency and brightness. It is therefore more suitable for watercolors than for oil painting.
Use: In fine arts mostly for the preparation of watercolors and temperae. It is also suitable for oil painting, especially for glazing.
