Unripe buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) berries, often also called Avignon berries (or Stil de Grain), give a beautiful yellow which has traditionally been used for the preparation of pigments based on chalky earths. Depending on the method of preparation, the obtained yellow can tend more towards orange or green. This pigment is warm yellow. With respect to other plant based lakes, this has a greater covering power, due to the chalky properties of the mineral base.
Attention: This color has lower lightfastness than the others. After exposure, it slightly tends towards brown.
