To realize this watercolor we use the MAYA BLUE pigment which we prepare. It gets its name from its historical origin: it was identified as the responsible of the blue color of different wall paintings and artifacts of Maya peoples (as in Bonampak), without initially understanding its natural source. After investigations and exeriments, scientists managed to discover that it's constituted by indigo (a natural dark blue pigment obtained all over the world from different plants) fixed on peculiar white clays which were present in Americas. Nila Colori prepares the pigment using the same method which was supposed to be used by the ancient peoples and from it then the watercolor.
